The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible to lead and manage the shipping team in the picking, packing, and shipment of products world-wide.   Drive continuous improvements into the process ensuring operations targets are met for safety, quality, delivery, and cost while delivering satisfied customers on an on-going basis.
 
Qualifications

  •  Working knowledge of ERP tools with detailed familiarity with the shipping processes of these tools. 
    •  Working knowledge interfacing with 3PL provider. 
      •  Detailed knowledge of the shipping process and documentation required to ship product via air, sea, and ground (LTL and FTL loads) world-wide. 
        •  Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams performing shipping functions in a high-volume, complex shipping environment. 
          •  Ability to effectively work with an internal sales team providing timely and effective communication to the sales team so that the sales team can keep our customers abreast and informed of shipping status. 
            •  Ability to assess and analyze shipping errors, determine root cause and put in place corrective actions driving process improvement in the shipping and receiving processes. 
              •  Ability to train, mentor, and develop the shipping team personnel to ensure our people are qualified and capable of meeting business needs. 
                •  Understanding and ability to implement 5S practices and apply them to the organization and management of the warehouse. 
                  •  Two years’ experience working in a shipping supervisory role or equivalent.       

                              
                    Scope of Responsibility:

                    •  This job will have periodic access to confidential data including wages and salaries, financial statements, company records and/or minutes, product costs, and company plans, designs, and/or programs.
                      •  This job follows standard practices and procedures, and is expected to accomplish work assignments with a limited amount of supervision.

                        Education 

                        •  Bachelor’s Degree preferred (but not required) in a pertinent field or the equivalent experience garnered work experience in a related field. 
                          •  Working knowledge of the process of generating receiving/shipping documentation for the receipt/shipment of packages to world-wide locations. 
                            •  Working knowledge or demonstrated ability to learn business information tools and ERP systems as well as shipping software tools utilized by major carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc). 
                              •  Working knowledge of 3PL relationship and tools utilized therein.

                                Qualifications:

                                •  Language Ability:
                                  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
                                  •  Math Ability:
                                    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
                                    •  Reasoning Ability: 
                                      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
                                      •  Computer Skills: 
                                        Basic Computer skills needed.  

                                        Education/Experience:

                                        •  Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

                                          Supervisory Responsibilities: 

                                          •  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the designated area. Also directly supervises several non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

                                            Work Environment:

                                            •  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

                                              •  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
