The Role

Nederman Australia - Shared Services is seeking an experienced Senior Business Controller to join our finance leadership team based in Bayswater, Victoria.

Reporting to the Country President, with a dotted reporting line to the APAC CFO, this role is part of the global finance function and supports financial performance across the Oceania region (Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia).

The position is responsible for financial reporting, analysis, project accounting, budgeting and forecasting, providing insights that support operational performance and strategic decision-making.

You will work closely with the management team, project engineers and provide leadership to two full-time accountants.

Key Responsibilities

·       Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, and performance analysis across the Oceania region.

·       Prepare and present monthly financial results, forecasts, and annual budgets to support strategic planning.

·       Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support management decision-making and operational improvements.

·       Manage the month-end close process including preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

·       Review bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations while ensuring statutory and compliance requirements are met.

·       Oversee project accounting including billing milestones, payment claims, project schedules, and reconciliations.

·       Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and analyse actual costs against budgets and forecasts.

·       Track project profitability through detailed cost analysis and performance reporting.

·       Analyse manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and production reporting to ensure accurate cost accounting.

·       Support the development and enhancement of financial systems, reporting frameworks, and accounting processes.

·       Provide financial insight and strategic analysis to senior leadership to support business growth.

·       Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operational functions.

Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business

·       CA or CPA qualified (or near completion)

Experience and Skills

·       5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment

·       Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management and financial reporting

·       Experience working with ERP systems (IFS is advantageous)

·       Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong analytical capability

·       Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior business leaders
