Addicted to clean air since 1944

Nederman has a proud history rooted in innovation and purpose. Founded in 1944 by Philip Nederman, the company became a pioneer in industrial air pollution control, developing some of the first systems designed to protect workers’ health and improve working environments inside production facilities.

Over the decades, Nederman has remained at the forefront of industrial air filtration, continually evolving to meet the changing needs of global industry. Today, we offer the market’s most comprehensive range of products and services to safeguard people, protect the planet and ensure efficient, compliant production.

Strategic growth and global leadership

Nederman’s modern era of expansion began with the acquisition of Dantherm Filtration in 2010, followed by Environmental Filtration Technologies (EFT) in 2012. These strategic moves doubled the company’s size and positioned Nederman as the global leader in industrial air filtration, providing advanced solutions for both indoor air quality and external emissions control.

Our growth is not just in size, but in capability. Since 2003, sales have increased from SEK 735 million to SEK 5.9 billion in 2024, driven by continuous investment in expertise, digitalisation and a broadened offering that includes connected, data-driven services.

Founding and early innovation (1940s–1950s)

Founded in 1944 in Helsingborg, Sweden, Nederman emerged in the post-war industrial boom, when factories were rapidly mechanizing and worker safety was often overlooked. The company focused on improving air quality in industrial environments, developing early source-capture filtration systems and local ventilation solutions. These innovations reduced exposure to dust, fumes and other airborne hazards, establishing Nederman as a pioneer in protecting workers’ health and supporting more efficient production processes.

Regulatory momentum and market growth (1960s–1970s)

The 1960s and 1970s saw heavy industry expand across Europe and North America, alongside growing awareness of occupational health and environmental impacts. Regulations like OSHA in the U.S. and the Swedish Work Environment Act set new standards for emissions and workplace safety. Nederman responded with advanced source-capture systems, welding-fume extraction and industrial ventilation solutions, helping companies meet regulatory demands while improving both worker protection and process efficiency.

Global expansion and strategic acquisitions (1980s–2000s)

From the 1980s onward, globalization reshaped industry, creating opportunities for international growth. Nederman combined strategic ownership changes with global expansion, including the acquisition of Dantherm Filtration in 2010 and Environmental Filtration Technologies (EFT) in 2012. These moves strengthened its market leadership, expanded its presence in key industrial sectors, and positioned Nederman to serve an increasingly global client base with cutting-edge air filtration and monitoring solutions.

Innovation and the future (2010s–today)

In the past decade, industries have faced new challenges, from digitalization and energy efficiency to the green transition and stricter environmental regulations. Nederman has met these with a dual focus on innovation and strategic acquisitions, adding expertise in emission monitoring (Gasmet, NEO Monitors), welding-fume extraction (RoboVent), flexible filtration (Duroair) and specialized process solutions (Euro-Equip). Digital platforms like Insight and SAVE, together with an Innovation centre in Helsingborg, underline the company’s shift toward connected, intelligent filtration systems.
